About Marty

Marty Holliday’s career spans both private industry and public workforce systems. She began her career in the ceramic tile industry, moving into sales, operations, and regional management roles at a time when few women worked in those spaces.

She joined the New River/Mount Rogers Workforce Development Board in 2001 and helped transform the organization from a compliance-focused system into one built on partnerships, business engagement, and regional collaboration. She facilitated the development of sector strategies and partnerships, advanced workforce programs that fill skills gaps, and supported major grant initiatives that brought substantial workforce development investment to the region. She served as Executive Director for 10 years.

Now serving as COO of the New River/Mount Rogers Workforce Development Foundation, Marty continues to focus on initiatives that connect workforce, education, and industry. She is known for asking practical questions, challenging assumptions, and ensuring that strategies remain grounded in the realities facing businesses and communities.
